In a small church, the "pastor" is slave to the people and their opinions of how things should be done, does most of the chores and jobs around the church and is on call at any time day or night for the people.
In a large church, the "pastor" is king of the people, and comes out once a week on Sunday to give a mesmerizing speech which woos the people and then he disappears for another week.
* I am not saying that this is a stereotype ofall small or large churches, just some in general in an exaggerated description of what can happen.
* In large churches there generally also is a Saturday night service, so it would be "comes out once a week on Saturday night and Sunday morning."
* I also know I used "he" for the pastor, and there are also many "she" pastors. However, in very large churches there seems to be less "she" pastors and more "he" pastors.
