I always dread mentioning one conference over another that I am part of, as there are so many wonderful, wonderful ones out there. I have the privilege to serve at various conferences throughout the year and each is so very unique in its intention, the group people etc. I list most of the conferences I am part of on the left side of this blog with links to the web sites for more info.
But one conference that is coming up that is rather unique is the ReThink Conference happening in January. It is being put on by CCN (Christian Communication Network) whom I have been part of two broadcast events with them before. They are broadcasting this event too.
It's a very unusual event where they invited different people and we each are going to share "Aha" moments in a main session and then there are Think Tanks of discussion in smaller settings. It is not a typical sort of ministry or church conference (as you can read on the web site) as there are speakers from all types of backgrounds. It is more of a cultural thinking ahead in general type of a one from a wide variety of people looking at the world from different perspectives. We are free to share whatever we want, so I am praying and thinking through what my "Aha" moment that might contribute to the event is. I think I know what it is. But we shall see.
I really look forward to this, as the whole design of the event itself is so fascinating and the people involved are not normally at events like this together. From Erwin McManus, John Ortberg, Lee Strobel, Chuck Colson to Larry King, George Bush Sr., Kathy Ireland and George Foreman. You can read the list of people here.
For those that are interested, they give out a code and a discount for speakers to make available to people they know, so anyone reading this who is interested can go to the web site and use this code as you register and get the 20% off the regular cost when you put this code in: rethink08dan
If you want to have lunch too, they have where you can sign up for a lunch one day where we then hang out and chat.
It is at the Crystal Cathedral which is right near Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. I have never been to the Crystal Cathedral for something happening there. But I should mention that once on a high school ministry trip to Mexico many years ago where we built some homes for people in need - we were on our way back and stayed near Disneyland. A few of us were driving late night around and saw the Crystal Cathedral. It is quite a building and we pulled in and as we were walking around outside the building, found a door unlocked. No alarms went off, so in youth pastor mindset and adventure we took a 1 AM or whatever time it was, very late night tour of inside the Crystal Cathedral creeping through the hallways and probing about in the total dark on our own. So this time I shall see it in the daytime.
