After a week on Lake Tahoe for a writing retreat, we are now on another lake (the photo is the view from the deck here taken from my cell phone) in the same area for this week. But this is family vacation and I will be intentionally not online, no email, no Facebook or Twitter or checking other blogs or Facebook updates.
For emergencies we have Becky's cell phone people can call and I am shutting mine off. I find if I even go online for a moment, I can so easily get sucked into checking email, looking at people's blogs and instantly my mind shifts to thinking about whatever I read, thinking about church details or whatever it may be.There is so much wonder and helpful things on the internet and via Facebook and blogs, but my highest or second highest (it has come up both ways) "strength" on the Strengths test is "Learner" so I begin instantly absorbing and processing and it then doesn't allow my mind and heart to settle or slow down enough for a true rest. So as soon as I finish this, I will be internet free for 7 full days.
If anyone is trying to email me, I didn't put on those automatic responses as I get updates and bills and things sent via email, and they then bounce back to so many times. So I will check after a week. Also the postings here, I won't be viewing until after 7 days.
The lake is beautiful, the girls love the water, we have good friends coming up here tonight to spend the night with us. I have a stack of comic books I brought that I will be reading and a few books which are theology books, but fun reading for me.
For those whom read this, have a wonderful week!
