In two unrelated things in our life today - I got a message that someone was arrested today caught spray-painting a big "666" on our church building. Haven't seen it yet... or heard the details of who was caught and why. *Update: here's a local news report on it. It made the news as our church building has a gym being used to help and house people misplaced by the fires happening in the mountains.
The other thing that happened today is that we live in a rural area outside of Santa Cruz . We love being here - it is a small cottage we rent from Becky's mom in the hills of an orchard. From our deck we can see the ocean and it feels like you are on a retreat living here which is why we like it so much. Normally very quiet.
But we are on a "T" intersection on a rural road and while we were out this afternoon someone was driving very fast and went straight through the "T" through our outer fence up against the road (you can see the tire tracks in this photo of its path). After it crashed through the outer fence it knocked down a tree and kept going into our driveway and smashed into the front of the car I use when I am not using my Mustang (and ironically just yesterday had bodywork done on the car that got smashed today) - the car missed hitting my parked Mustang by inches. It took out the corner pole of the carport the Mustang sits under. They then smashed into our white picket fence in our front lawn area. They then split and left a bunch of their own car parts across our yard and driveway. I am surprised their car was able to drive away - but it did and no license plate or anything. Our neighbor heard the crash(es) and saw a white BMW pull out and drive away screeching as they left.
Very upsetting - with all we have to deal with now in the clean up and also now having our smashed up white car that was just repaired yesterday. And more upsetting thinking what if Katie or Claire or Becky was out there in the driveway. And thankful my Mustang was missed by maybe 4 inches. But do wish the person was caught. The police said probably was a drunk driver and was also driving very fast to go that far from the road. My Mustang must have a force-field on it. I am still amazed it wasn't hit. But it is still rusty. And Mustangs could beat up a white BMW any day. BMW's......
